Separation Anxiety In Pets

Separation Anxiety In Pets
I am pet sitting a dog with serious separation anxiety. How do I stop him from peeing and defecating.?

His owner rented a room and has lived here for a month, so he is used to the surroundings and my dog. He wines and is going to the bathroom inside while, we are home? How should I stop this behavior? I have scolded him and put his nose in it. I don't want to have to crate him the whole time but I can't live with this. Help!

Don't rub his nose in it, you will only frighten him and worsen the problem. Rubbing a dog's nose in their own filth is an old wives tale that actually solves or trains nothing and only frightens the dog.

Get him out and walking more. Take him for two or three brisk 30 minute walks a day to stimulate his bladder and bowel. He'll empty himself out on these walks which means less mess for you to clean up.
