Does my dog have seperation anxiety?
She is about one year old and a golden retriever, and ever since we got her she is clingy and desperate for attention. I've tried ignoring her and petting her on my terms and giving her plenty of attention and love, but she doesnt quit the contast grunting and rubbing against me. Another strange thing is she moves her hips from side to side and backs into things. She is very clumsy and has strange habits but she does not chew furniture or bark, things that i've read go along with anxiety disorders in dogs. Whats caused her to be so needy and weird?
You have a "working " dog that craves a job. You have to figure out what she can do for you that makes her feel fulfilled. Even if you get her a book bag to carry (they make them for dogs), put some books in it; and praise her for the "good job".
