My pet ball python bit me on the arm and now I am scared to hold it. How do i get over my fear?
that will happen from time to time with snakes. i've been bitten 3 or 4 times by my male ball python (during feeding time). the last time he bit me was probably about a year ago though (i handle him almost every day unless he is shedding). i've been bitten 3 times by my male kingsnake the last time i was bitten by him was 2 days ago (if he gets hungry he will tell you by biting your finger). in a way its how snakes communicate to us. my kingsnake tells me he is hungry this way sometimes snakes will bite if they get scared or sometimes they will bite if you do something to hurt them. we had an amazon tree boa that i picked up to take her out of her feeding tub when i did she turned around and tagged me on my arm...it turned out that she was gravid and i had one of my hands under her tummy.
just don't be timid when you pick up the ball python if you are nervous the snake will sense it a bite isn't the worst thing that can happen. and if anything else it's kind of cool to show your friends. how many of your friends have been bitten by a snake?
