Grooming Anxiety
Pomeranian Owners? Help?

What are some facts about them? Does yours shed A LOT yearly, or is it pretty normal? How about yappiness? I thought that that kind of thing can be trained out of dogs? Is yours protective? Seperation anxiety? How about health problems? Expensises ect.? What are some other things I should be aware of other than how small and fragile they are and having to groom them every few days?
Oh jeez I'll just look on google! xD

Im a pomeranian advocate, i love the breed!!! I own 2 and while they have similar 'pom' personality traits...they are quite different from eachother. The female is the dominant one (she eats first, greets visitors first) and in general is always out front ...The Boy is gentle and loving, loves to curl up on my lap and take treats from my hand, always eager to please :) Both dogs enjoy being brushed once a week but neither enjoy having their nails clipped! I wash them every 6 weeks or so (some breeders say thats too often) more frequently would start to dry their coat out...The males shed once a year and the females shed twice a year. With any dog, 2 is better than 1.Dogs are 'pack' animals and thrive on companionship where as cats are quite the opposite. Provided your dog is fit and healthy, he/she will live for 12-15 + years, longer than large breeds which tend to live for a mere 8-10.

All in all, they are cheaper than large dogs to feed, dont require as much exersize, dont bark as loud, are curious and lively, tolerate annoying kids! do well with other dogs and they dont shed much.

The most expensive vet bill ive had so far is a dentist bill which cost around $200.Touch wood!

The only cons i can think of are that their coat smells (like a dogs coat naturally does-although some breeds dont) and that they are fragile (due to their size).

Are we grooming our children for abusive relationships?
